TORONTO - Recently published reports from Dell'Oro Group and Infonetics Research continue to rank Nortel* [TSX: NT | OTC: NRTLQ] as the worldwide leader with the largest revenues in the carrier softswitch market for the first quarter of 2009.
Nortel's vision and execution in the carrier softswitch market continues to pay off. According to Dell'Oro Group, Nortel has ranked #1 worldwide based on softswitch revenue for the past seven years. In Dell'Oro Group's recently published Carrier IP Telephony report 1Q 2009, Nortel maintained its global leadership position for softswitches with 20.3 percent global market share.
According to Infonetics Research's recent report, Service Provider VoIP Equipment and Subscribers Q1 2009, Nortel maintained its worldwide revenue leadership position in softswitches and is the global leader in VoIP overall. Infonetics also found that Nortel continued its leading position based on revenue in the softswitch market in both North America and EMEA, with 59.1 percent in North America and 29 percent in EMEA.
"Infonetics Research found that Nortel has maintained its revenue market share lead in the worldwide softswitch market in the first quarter of 2009," said Diane Myers, directing analyst for service provider VoIP and IMS at Infonetics Research. "In North America, Nortel operates from a position of strength as the leading incumbent vendor with more than half of all softswitch sales."
