Goldsmith-Agio-Helms

Background

Goldsmith-Agio-Helms * is a global private investment banking firm, providing sophisticated financial advisory services to middle-market businesses. Goldsmith-Agio-Helms has 83 professionals operating internationally through offices in Minneapolis, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and London.

Customer Need

The firm wanted to enable its staff to provide the highest level of customer service seamlessly from any place, anytime.

Nortel Solution

A unified communications solution with high-value IP calling features, based on:

  • A Nortel Communication Server 1000 system in the Minneapolis headquarters, delivering IP PBX services over the firm's IP LAN/WAN, such as four digit dialing with no toll charges between sites. Nortel Survivable Remote Gateways in the other locations extend virtual office capabilities across the network and Nortel CallPilot unified messaging notifies users of voice messages via e-mail to Blackberry devices.
  • The Multimedia Communication Server 5100 delivers VoIP applications, including ringing, to several members of a team, ad-hoc teleconferencing, collaboration services, video calling, instant messaging and presence. Nortel VPN Routers securely extend the virtual office to home offices and remote work sites, with dynamic routing services over encrypted VPN tunnels.
  • Compact, stackable Nortel Ethernet Routing Switches power the new, high-bandwidth IP network between offices and the Ethernet Switches send power over Ethernet to the Nortel IP Phones with large displays and programmable "soft-keys," as well as voice-enabled PCs, that give staff members easy-to-use desktop interfaces.
Results & Benefits

Goldsmith-Agio-Helms is now reaping the benefits of this converged infrastructure, including:

  • Virtual office made simple: Call handling, presence and portability for superior client service - the network transformed the workplace from a physical entity into a virtual one, where the firm's professionals are productive and accessible wherever they are.
  • Reliability and easy network management: with visibility into the end-to-end system from the operations center at the headquarters, or anywhere else via 24X7 monitoring.
